heat of fusion of water

In this blog we are going to discuss about heat of fusion of water.
First,Keep a bowl of water in the freezer. The water gives heat gradually which is indicated by reduction in temperature.

Once the water temperature reaches 0oC (or 32oF) the temperature reading will stay constant at this temperature. This is known as freezing temperature of  water. With the freezer  running and running, you will find that water slowly become solid. At that situation, the heat that has removed from water is the heat of fusion of water and the freezer does the work of removal of this heat. The amount of work completed by the freezer is the amount of energy necessary to remove this heat of fusion.

four times the whole quantity of water becomes ice, then again the temperature of ice starts dropping with further in put of energy.
Also see the given link to know about heat of vaporization water.
Next time we will discuss more about heat of fusion of water.
